Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences
The 2017-18 school year is well under way!  Parent/Teacher conferences took place throughout the district on October 31, November 1 and 2.  This was an important time for parents to sit with their student’s teacher and discuss how their student is progressing.

Live United!   Annual Campaign for United Way of Clallam County
PASD is holding its annual campaign for the United Way of Clallam County during the week of October 30 – November 3, 2017.  Last year, employees throughout the school district supported various community programs under the United Way umbrella with over $14,000 in donations.

(Proposed) Capital Projects Levy for February 13, 2018 Ballot
The School District Board of Directors have facilities projects under careful consideration. Learn more about the proposed capital projects levy being discussed by the School Board at (Proposed) Capital Projects Levy.  This page will be updated continually.  

Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Potlatch 
All PASD staff are invited to attend the 20 th Annual School District Potlatch on Thursday, November 30 @ 4 – 9 p.m. in the gym at the main tribal building, 2851 Lower Elwha Road. This will be the 20 th Annual School District Potlatch!

Highly Capable Student Identification
T he Port Angeles School District announces an open referral process from October 31 through December 8, 2017 for students currently in K-12 who may qualify for Highly Capable (HiCap) Program services.  Paper referral forms are available at each school building, as well as the District’s website at https://portangelesschools.org/.   Referral forms must be received by the end of the school day (3 p.m.) on December 8, 2017. Due to time constraints, referrals received after December 8, 2017, will not be considered. All referrals can be returned to either your school's secretary or Susan Heyer, HiCap Program Coordinator, located at the Lincoln Center, 905 West 9 th Street, Port Angeles, WA 98363.   Questions concerning HiCap services in the Port Angeles School District may be directed to Susan Heyer, HiCap Program Coordinator, at 360-565-1966 or sheyer@portangelesschools.org .  Students previously identified will continue to receive services.

Wellness Committee 
At the October 19 Board meeting held at Roosevelt Elementary, Assistant Superintendent Chuck Lisk reported the Nutrition & Physical Fitness Committee is disbanded and will be replaced by a Wellness Committee that incorporates the goals of the Nutrition and Physical Fitness Committee but allows the focus to expand to include a wider base of issues in our schools and allows us to increase the group to include more staff, nurses, counselors and community members.  For more information, contact 360-457-8575.

Youth United
Youth United is a partnership between United Way and Port Angeles High School that allows students in grades 9 – 12 to letter in community service. The requirements are: (1) Complete at least 145 hours of volunteer service between April 1 and March 31 each year; (2) 50 hours must be non-school related volunteering (for example for a non-profit or a civic service setting); (3) All students must be involved in at least one other school related activity (sport, clubs, etc.); (4) Volunteer activities must be verifiable and students must meet a 2.0 GPA requirement.  Click for more information on Youth United. Veterans Day
Port Angeles students throughout the district will learn about veterans and their dedication and service to our country during school assemblies, songs and skits, most occurring on Thursday, November 9.  Schools and the central office will be closed on Friday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day.  Be sure to thank a veteran for all they’ve done!
